Wake deconstructs the landscape of a wake into an installation of one acrylic pane with a mound of chick feed suspended by steel cables over a portal of chick feed where the performer gestures a disembodied wake-ing, presenting shifting personas of both living mourner and ghost. Based on the Filipino belief of placing chicks on the coffin to call for justice for the murdered dead, the performer entwines four Infinite Gestures: Awakening, Feeding the Chicks, Traces, and Light. It is also a statement on the ongoing wakes caused by violence perpetuated by extra-judicial killings.
